My Automechanika Webinar – Digitalization of the Middle East’s Automotive Industry

Automechanika Webinar: Digitalisation of the Middle East's Automotive Industry

In this Automechanika webinar on the Middle East’s automotive digitalization, my co-panellists and I will discuss the ever-growing shift within the industry and across the board to enhance digitalization versus simply digitising available information. The focus shift from digitizing to full-on digitalization in the automotive industry began well before COVID-19.

To clarify the significant difference between the two, please consider the following. Digitization is making sales & marketing materials available in electronic formats, like a downloadable pdf or a webpage. Digitalization includes the whole customer experience; how the information is made public, accessed and utilized, and this user journey starts well before creating the material. Here is an example: will you turn your training PowerPoint straight into an online course, or will you redesign the learning steps and content with the virtual delivery environment in mind to ensure full participant learning engagement?

The extended lockdowns forced by the pandemic has accelerated the digitalization process and emphasis considerably.

In this Automechanika webinar, Dr Julia Saini (Associate Partner & Vice President – Mobility Practice @ Frost & Sullivan) started by detailing the digitalization situation pre-COVID-19, what took place during the lockdowns leading to the acceleration and finally what the future holds. This 15-minute introduction presentation laid the groundwork for the following live panel discussion. During which the experts Alan Whaley (Chairman AMENA), Jamie Frame, (Operations Director Sensus Automotive) and I talked about what is happening on-the-ground in the middle east.

So, what actions do you see yourself, your organization or regional office taking to stay ahead of this trend?
